Synopsis Details the familiar spiel that co-incided with so many Australian films released in the 70's, that 'Oz' could be the first Australian breakthrough in the U.S. market - this time the claim was made by the AFCs marketing and distribution director Alan Wardrope.

From this, the article details how Max Kellner, the president of small Los Angeles distributor Interplanetary Pictures, negotiated a deal with the producers of Oz within 24 hours of seeing the film at Cannes in May of 1977. Kellner spent $60,000 producing a stereo version of the originally 'mono' Oz - evidently a major deficiency for film claiming to be a 'Rock Musical' -with the remix carried out by Don McDougall, one of the team involved with the mixing of the sound on Star Wars, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Wardrope cites that with 40 prints of Oz made, moves were underway for the film to saturate at least one American city, with it openning in 40 New York cinemas.
