Comments |
Miles' review is interesting if only for the fact that he is one of few reviewers of the time to actually appreciate the film!
He understands that Oz is deliberately aimed at a younger audience, yet he doesn't confuse the film as being simply for children, acknowledging that in the guise of fantasy, Oz does actually have some decidedly poignant societal observations about Australian youth in the mid 1970's. |
Synopsis |
In his review, Miles accentuates the inherent 'Australianness' of the film, stating that "Chris Lofven's script is leisurely earty and undeniably Australian".
Miles goes on to point out that Lofven makes a number of socio-political comments about the state of the country, and that "the rock music is the kind of sound the young audience will want to hear". |
