Synopsis |
A brief report on the exhibition of controversial French film 'Baise-Moi' in Australia. The film had been dropped from cinema schedules in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia, while New South Wales police closed down screenings of the film at the Valhalla and Chauvel cinemas in Sydney, after the Office of Film and Literature Classification withdrew its R rating. Paul Coulter was considering appealing the film's ban saying: "We have a contract with the distributors, there has been expenditure on promotion, and we feel we have an agreement with the people of Victoria to show the film." On the weekend, 1500 Victorians bought tickets and saw the film which follows the story of "two women who go on a sex and killing spree after one is raped and the other sees her best friend shot." |
