Comments A submission to a Joint Select committee of the Federal Parliament from the Australian Institute of Criminology considers the effects of video material upon Australian society. In summary this submission concludes that viewing violent material may induce densensitization or conversely, increased aggression and although there appears to be no causative link between media violence and violent criminal events, many Australians believe there is a sufficient tentative evidence of the harmful effects of exposure to media violence to support official action curbing its availability to the community.
