| Synopsis |
To begin her discussion of the film, Gul explores the cultural appropriations of the film in it's contemporary context and today; she notes a shift from humour to a dark study of the development of national and individual identity.
She cites the film as being a sociological study of 'teen culture' as it existed in 1970 Sydney. The disturbing behaviour eminated by the film's protagonists is widely the focus of Gul's essay. She lunges into a very detailed synopsis of the film offering her own individual interpretation of the characters and the film's message and outcome.
To conclude, Gul note the 'realist' nature of the film. Such a focus, she believes. adds to the film's impact and power. |
