Title Teen Flicks Rule: So Hollywood Lets Them Rock, and Roll
Publication Date 16-04-1999
Page Number 3-45
Comments Whiel this article is largely concerned with the American 'teenpic' tradition, it does raise some universal issues which would certainly be of use and value to anyone conducting studies into the 'Coming of Age' film genre in Australia.
Synopsis Waxman offers a critique of the recent boom of 'teenpics' in the late 90's and spends much of her energy explaining the marketability and profitability of producing such films.

She examines consistent traits accross the genre insisting that 'youth stardom'is truly the driving force behing the genre. Some 'film going' demographics are exploited by Waxman to prove her point about the mass response to 'teenpics' and why film executives keep 'pumping them out.'
