This article is presumptous, incredibly slanted and intends to provoke readers to abhor the FFC's actions without supplying many facts.
It questions Read's motivations presuming he must be financially gaining from the project or wouldn't allow Pariah Films the rights to his book.
Perhaps if this article was better researched or did not omit facts which would hinder its arguement it would have mentioned Mark 'Chopper' Read donated the money he was paid for these rights to charity.
The article ridiculously assumes the film will make a "hero" of Chopper wanting to stir up controversy and again like Maddox's article it also fails to admit his "media hotshot" status has largely been conferred to him by a public which reads his books, listens to his cd's and takes an interest in his actions. |
Synopsis |
Questions why the Film Finance Corporation has invested $2 million into 'From the Outside' (Chopper) while the Howard Government frets about our violent culture.
The author begrudges the fact that Read claims to have murdered 19 people, has spent 20 years in jail and is now considered a media hotshot.
The author conveys dismay that the Film Finance Corporation has agreed to help fund the film, describing this as a move to pump taxpayers money into a project which will add to Read's celebrity status.
An FFC spokesman states the film will not glamorise Read nor will he earn a cent from it however the author claims Read must think he will gain something or he wouldn't give away the rights to his book. |
