Comments Film review
Synopsis The reviewer says that the success of the film is more a result of Andrew Niccol's script and Peter Weir's direction than the big name of Jim Carrey. The film is timely as it reflects society's obsession with TV and with celebrity culture, in Australia and to a greater degree in America. But the writer expresses disappointment in the "cop-out" ending, as Weir seemed more concerned with appealing to the masses, rather than showing any courage.
