Comments An excellent analysis of the documentary film tradition in both America, Britain and some Australian mentions. The author is attempting to prove that the whole Grierson tradition of filmaking was flawed from the beginning because it through that documentaries were 'real' and hence 'truth'.
Synopsis A critique of the principkes underpinning the dominant tradition of documentary filmaking, ie. the Grierson tradition. Takes a look at cinema verite, direct cinema and advocacy and ethnographic films.
