Comments The short four page chapter examines the major events involving and the notable facts about Brunswick's Liberty Theatre. From the conversion of the building from The Broadway Dancing Palais in 1934, until it's unfortunate closure in 1987, each change of ownership is covered. Paul Harris' relationship with the Liberty is well documented in this book, praising Harris for his efforts in reviving the small cinema's reputation in it's last years. The chapter is very enlightening on the decrease in audience numbers, which explains how the demand for foreign language films was made by local migrants at the time when television hindered cinema profits, the Liberty was then known as "Theatro Liberty". An invaluable resource for the researching of The Liberty, A History Of Brunswick's Picture Theatres even contains a diagram of the area with markings of each cinema relating to the others.
Synopsis The book contains chapters on various cinemas in Brunswick, all of which have since closed down. The Liberty Theatre is well documented from rise to fall in the short chapter.
