Synopsis |
O'Regan talks about Australian films and the film industry in the 1950s. He discussses the "mechanics" (with specific reference to The Overlanders, 1946) behind the production of The Back of Beyond and also how documentaries and feature films of that era were influenced by cultural factors and vice verca.
O'Regan also discusses the idea of the 'location' film in reference to Stanley Kramer's On The Beach and other location productions that were filmed in Australia. He then discusses how Australian content was heavily influenced by political and cultural factors which limited how much was produced. |
