The intended audience for this article are people reading the Preview section of The Age newspaper who are interested in reading about the upcoming movie 'Three Dollars' the author brings about the story of how Elliot Perlman came to write the novel and where this storyline/idea came from, a personal insight for the reader into the events that directly brought about the genesis for the story. This article could be used to gain an understanding of the origins of the novel and now movie titled 'Three Dollars', it also critically analyses the political and social realness of the films themes, while it addresses some of the more exaggerated and problematic ideas seen in the movie, it also congratulates the film on being a powerful film that resonates with all audiences. This text does present an argument from both sides of a point of view, both appraising the film and looking into some of the more problematic areas such as the rambling narrative structure and jumpy events. The source appears accurate and well researched again with a lot of reliance on direct quotes from Perlman himself, these quotations are basis of the article which also gives a brief synopsis of the movie within the article and quotes. There is an underlying assumption by the author that all readers have heard about and perhaps already viewed the movie and therefore have an insight into the movies storyline/themes and characters. |
