Comments In this article, comments from Indonesian Government and Indonesian military spokesman were revealed. This is clearly intended for the Indonesian’s public who questioned why the film banned and also to give the explanation for the Australian’s public who must be questioned to the Indonesian decision.

This article could be used as how the Indonesian Government see the film. They said that ‘The International community will understand our position if we explain it to them well”. They also strongly against the Balibo’s producer who claimed that the film is based on the historical facts, which is create another arguments from the public, because in the website of the movie, many evidence about the facts of the tragedy were revealed. Adding the comments from Indonesian perspectives about the film would be very important to make a critical argument to this discussion.

With all the evidences that shown in the film’s website, Indonesian government should explain it or at least gives a statement that support their decision to ban the film. Indonesian Government defined the movie as “digging into past mistakes” and said that it could risk the relations between the two countries. It is possible for the public to see that Indonesian only try to cover up their past mistakes and could not face the truth about the tragedy.

Synopsis The Indonesian government anticipates an International backlash over its recent ban on the screening of the movie Balibo, but expects this will not hurt Jakarta's overall image.
