Motion Picture News was originally found through the book "Cinemas Of Australia via USA" by Ross Thorne. This journal was initially found in order to showcase the Regent in Melbourne on an international level. Not only does it do this, but also provides a great insight into Australian cinemas from an international perspective. Motion Picture News notes that "The unusual practice of erecting one theatre on top of another has been adopted with notable success by Architects Cedric H. Ballantyne and Associates of Melbourne, Australia.'
Synopsis Between 1913 and 1930, Motion Picture News was published throughout America to showcase the latest in film. Luckily we are able to access these rare papers through scanning and the internet. The Regent in Melbourne is highlighted for its architecture in volume 40 from 1929, showcasing its international reputation.
