A collection of correspondence, notes, letters and building plans that deal with the Park Picture Theatre. They create a comprehensive and chronological file that has records in the form of both copies and originals. I found it rather helpful as it contained correspondence between the surveyor and Hoyts ltd as well as copies of the original floor plans and a myriad of other notes and letters that may prove to be useful in the future. The floor plans are especially helpful as they will improve basic knowledge of the venue itself which has been not easy to come by in pictorial form. Anyone looking into the beginnings (or downfall) of a building or theatre should be able to glean knowledge by finding the relevant building application files. In the case of the Park theatre, it was interesting to note that management received letters from higher up the chain of command within Hoyts advising them to shorten their sessions and close on certain days until it was only open for two sessions on a Saturday, this seems to point towards the possibility of monetary issues being at fault for its demise.
Included is also reports and letters that include information about the two fires that occurred at the venue due to electrical fault.
Overall, the building files are a worth while resource although the search functions within the PROV website and databases are often slow to respond and difficult to navigate.
