A journal article about Trak Cinema from the Cinema and Theatre Historical Society, Issue 68, Edition 4, 2010. |
Synopsis |
This article is undeniably a great insight into Trak Cinema. Written by Craig Cahill, a former projectionist at Trak Theatre, the article delves into the history of the cinema with accompanying images throughout the piece.
What I found interesting was the mention of the silver curtain which itself weighed three tonnes and the fact that Trak was the 'very first modern cinema' to screen late shows at 11:15pm.
This article is given credibility and importance due to the fact that Cahill makes apparent that he was a Projectionist at Trak in 1982 and makes readers privy to the full houses and ambience of the cinema that were experienced in that time. He makes known that the closure of Trak in his opinion was a loss of one of Melbourne's 'most unique cinemas'.
Overall this article is thoughtful, insightful and provided an immense amount of insight and appreciation into Trak Cinema. |
