The newsapaper said the building program began and will continue for another two or three. In a partnership with village Roadshow, greater Union is adding another 155 screens,in Victoria.through their controlling interest in Birch,Carroll and Coyle. In three years, GU will either own or have substantial interest in 285 screens across Australia, and that is only the first wave of construction.
The newspaper also mentioned the increase in the number of screens they control won't necessarily mean more movies, just more prints. Conversely, though, this may result in a faster turnaround. A film that now plays six weeks in the city may last only three weeks, because many will see it in the suburbs.that could mean the majors will need more product than they do now.
