This autobiography of Francis Palmer Selleck is a fairly straightforward and detailed account of Selleck’s life and various roles that he held within that time. From what I can see this article is intended for academic or informative purposes and would be used for nothing more than to gain a better understanding of this Lord Mayor’s life. While it could be used for any number of things I would suggest that this piece is best suited for those writing a report of sorts on F.P. Selleck or possibly for those who want to gain a better understanding of the types of people who are given the opportunity to preside over the city of Melbourne. While it doesn’t offer heaps of information on his participation in the film industry this piece does give a base understanding of the man who collaborated with others to head many of the old cinemas that once resided in suburbs throughout Melbourne and Sydney. While it is not that impactful or prevalent I did notice a slight bias throughout the piece in the sense that the author seemed to have a large amount of respect for this former Mayor. Thankfully its use throughout this piece doesn’t impact the validity of the message or meaning for the work seems to be more factual than emotional. All in all I would highly recommend this article to any participating in an academic research setting. (Catie Davis)
