This has been the most helpful reference I have found thus far. I really like the way that Chris Beck has presented his information about the Burnley Theatre in a feature style article. I like that from the very start the article transports you to the Burnley Theatreâs hey day, where silent films were fabulous, and the cinematic experience was completely different.
Beck spoke to Barry Drill, the owner of the furniture store that has inhabited the theatre. I thought it was great to read that Drill and his staff were, and are, well educated about the history of the theatre. Itâs fantastic that they welcome guests to come and look at the architectural structure of the theatre, so that people like me who are researching the theatre, can become more educated and aware of the space.
The article also has a photo of the Burnley Theatre in both past and present form. The changes that Beck describes in his article are very accurately portrayed in the before and after photos. Itâs incredible that one place holds such history.
Beck describes the Burnley as a palace, which gave me an impression of how patrons may have described this theatre in the 1920âs and 1930âs. It gives some explanation as to what the cinematic experience was like back then. It transported people away from their normal lives on a Friday or Saturday night, and Beck helped transport me back to this time with this article.
