Comments The performance of Mia Wasikowska in the film 'September' was a prominent role that received her much acclaim, result in Hollywood star status. Moving on from Australian film and television, Mia was chosen to star as Alice in Tim Burton's re imagining of Alice in Wonderland in 2010. The film was a critical and financial success earning more than 1 billion dollars at the box office world wide. It was Mia's performance as Alice that allowed her to open up her acting roles and allow her to choose various roles from different directors and different locations. The reasons why Mia's performance in September and her transition to Hollywood cinema is important is because it relates to the key question of whether or not Australians can continue making film in such a stereotypical fashion ( as highlighted in September), as it is obvious through Mia Wasikowska. The real sense of achievement for young and coming Australian actors is making it big overseas. Recognition is all but key for actors and actresses alike, so this is why the shift in Australian Cinema needs to be made in order to keep actresses such as Mia wanting to stay in their own country.
