Name Dean Murphy
Birth Year 1970
Death Year 0000
Country Australia
Comments Not unlike the characters in his latest hit Charlie and Boots, Dean Murphy grew up on a dairy farm in North East Vitoria. Due to this, it is safe to say that Murphy has an understanding of his characters in this text, coming from a small rural area himself. Dean became interested in the film industry after appearing on local television as a child. Incredibly Murphy made his first short film at the age of 14, which was screened at his local performing arts centre. Following this he produced two low budget documentaries before writing, directing, shooting and producing his first feature film entitled “Just Cruising”. Dean later moved to the US to broaden his horizons in the film making industry. Here he gained experience at a Hollywood studio whilst working alongside producer George Folsey Jr. Just three years later Dean returned to his homeland Australia to direct the feature film “Muggers”. Since then Dean has remained in Australia after realising his love for the Australian film industry and the opportunities it presents to him. He is employed by Instinct Entertainment and here he has written, produced and directed various hits such as Charlie and Boots, Strange Bedfellows and TORN. As you can see Dean has shown a passion for the film industry and the arts his entire life and will continue to give the Australian film industry something to talk about.
