Comments A section from The Herald Newspaper displaying an advertisement for the opening of the Astrojet (dated the day before). It contains a lot of information on the actual Space Centre, including family events and exhibitions, but the cinema itself is not highlighted. Having been the year after man landed on the moon, it was certain that space and technology was very popular at the time, and this attraction would be a family-oriented one to attract them to a space and aircraft exhibition, showcasing the technology that brought man to the skies, moon and beyond. As for the independent cinema, it would take another year or two for that to be really successful.
Synopsis A newspaper article of The Herald from August 14th 1970, announcing the opening of the Astrojet Space & Science Centre (which would open the following day). On it it includes the activities and events being held, as well as showing prices and describing the aircraft museum. It displays the activities and events that will occur on the opening day as well as what will be a regular attraction for the Space Centre. The advertisement looks to be aimed at families and people of all ages, and would have been Tullamarine's version of Science Works back in 1970. The Astrojet cinema complex would not be popular for another year or two.
