In January of 2002, Alan Finney was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his outstanding service to the Australian Film Industry. Sarah Finney, his daughter, composed this media release as a testament to this achievement and his career to date. As he is accepting an award, the audience is presumably those taking interest in the winners of such medals of Australia and perhaps want to know more about what Alan Finney has done. Sarah Finney, therefore, is composes the piece in a very informative way. It is based highly on fact and lists many movies, appearances and occupational roles Alan Finney has been involved in.
Whilst there is an obvious bias to be aware of as the author is Alan FInneys daughter, Sarah Finney does a professional job of remaining informative and shows little emotion throughout the piece. This media release is particularly helpful for discussion in my field as his covers all areas of Alans life and what he has done. Along with the media release there is a biographical attachment which adds further, credible, information. The media release conveys information about Alans outstanding distribution ability as well as other influential moments he has been part of in his life.
This piece is fundamental in forming the foundation of ones knowledge about Alan Finney and what he has done. In relation to my field it has done exactly that and allowed me to branch out into other areas with credible knowledge behind me. The text doesn't necessarily offer a particular argument or try to persuade its audience in any way. It simply narrates the facts and life of Finney; something which is still very valuable when analysing the subject.
