Comments This review simply tells the story of ‘The Sundowners’ with some quotation from characters of the film. Also, he assessed that this film was been well managed to show an Australia outback of 1920s as a fantasy land theme park. This point could be agreed because the background of an Australia outback in the film looks like an imaginary place without any restriction, for example they are travelling around doing gambling, drinking and so on. Therefore, it could be argued that this life was representative characteristics of Australian outback in 1920s. More importantly, this review focuses on the relationship between a husband Paddy and a wife Ida as each a man and woman. The writer of review states that ‘there are a few refreshing touches here for a Warner Brothers epic from 1960’, that is the concept of sex. Since sex apparently easy and uninhibited in Australia outback, it could be argued that the film also implies sex and their relationship from a different angle compared to other America movies. This is interesting point how the director of ‘The Sundowners’ would want to depict it as well as how actors and actresses played as an Australian portraying their specific characteristics especially in 1920s so that audiences can recognise the atmosphere of Australia outback in 1920s and enjoy it.
Synopsis This review focuses on various features of the film.
