Comments Actually, there were just few films in Australia of 1960s, and especially this film ‘The Sundowners’ was made by foreign company that it is American film production which is called ‘Warner Brothers’. For this reason, it needs to be investigated what result of the film is as it made with foreigner’s perspective. The background of ‘The Sundowners’ is completely the Australian outback family that implies the traditional aspect of Australian in 1920s with lush green pastures, red-brown soil, animals, a warm welcome, a hearty meal and so on. The most important thing is actors and actresses who played in the film, and they were not Australian because it was overseas film production. These imported actors and actresses did appalling imitations of Australian accent, so they were praised from many commentators, critics and audiences after releasing the film. In this article, the argument of the writer is that the film ‘The Sundowners’ well represented Australian life of 1920s to the world even if imported actors and actresses played as characters of Australian. It could be agreed that the director and actors was passionate to catch what features of the Australian outback family are by reflecting the circumstance of Australia in 1920s. Also, it is valuable to discuss the film related to the film industry in 1960 that is year the film was released considering the point that the film was made by foreigner film production.
