The article mentions that the cinema house In the article Schouten speaks about owning the Plaza Cinema Croydon and how he is going to return it to being a family-focused operation moving away from the digital screens for the four screened cinema saying that he was pleased to be championing the four-screen cinemaâs return to family-focused operating keeping with the same business practices that the cinema has had since its inception. This means that the Plaza Cinema Croydon, unlike its multiplex competition will not change to digital films and projectors. Due to the Place Cinema refusing to modernize its film screens and projectors it will not be able to show 3D movies, but it also means that it can keep showing movies at lower prices. Unlike the competing Village and Hoyts cinemas in the Ringwood and Knox areas tickets at the Plaza are only ten dollars.
In the article Brian Hunt, who is the Cinema and Theatre Historical Society member, said the retro approach celebrated the greatest traditions of the movies. âThe whole industry is changing but this is encouraging the cinema as that iconic day or night out,â he said.
