This is a graphic material of buildings.
The Alhambra theatre has been introduced in the pages 536 and 537.
It described the Alhambra theatre as a classic flea pit.
This book and picture offered us an idea of how did people feel about the Alhambra back to 1950s.
It was a really difficult time for the Alhambra. Old owner Percy Allen left the management, the Alhambra was not the favourite son of the Hoyts/ people believed the appearance of this theatre couldn't be any worse.
No body really remembered this theatre used to the first all-concrete theatre, the glory of the past seems fading everyday.
But even in such a harsh condition, the Alhambra stubbornly survived. Despite it could only survive by catering those immature teenagers, most of they showed no respect to the cinema(Cunningham, 1995, pp.23-24),it was still running untill Hoyts decided to shut it down.
In the end of the Alhambra' story, we should remember - this theatre may closed, but it never surrenders. ?Mingrui He) |
