Title Gala Welcome For Helen Twelvetrees
Author(s)Author Unknown
Publication Date 04-12-1935
Page Number 7
Comments A good source of photographs from Twelvetrees arrival, including her posing behind a floral horse-shoe, waving from the Monterey, being entertained by the Lady Mayoress, shaking hands with dignitaries at her Civic Reception, and being escorted through crowds. There is also a photo of police holding crowds back. Unfortunetly the quality of the photos as appearing in the microfilms held in the State Library of NSW are poor.

Synopsis The public welcome for Twelvetrees at Circular Quay is described, with photos of Twelvetrees from the day featured, her popularity attributed to the 'cleverly executed…propaganda', which has also materialised in the form of successive planned luncheons.

In a press conference, journalists apparently left with "a determination to do right by her in their writings".

Twelvetrees is described as intelligent but shy, apparently refusing to speak of 'Thoroughbred' but informing the press of Hollywood's interest and Australian players known in America.

It is also mentioned that incidential and background scenes have already been screened.
